Don’t go on depakote. That shit is horrible. Rot the teeth right out your head. It took a few years, but believe me, there are other ways, depakote is a huge mistake

Depakote is ALOT more expensive than Lithium, not sure what pharmacy you use.
Drugs should be the last resort!
@plalelal – i have ‘rapid cycling’ they say it’s because I wasn’t treated 4 so long. (10 years of seeking counselling where no-one made a diagnosis!)
I recommend the therapy part to people who haven’t realized they’ve had it.
So many people rely on JUST medication. Medication doesn’t do jack-shit if you don’t at least TRY to be even the slightest bit stable.
Then again, having that shoved down your throat and bitched at all the time and being forced that kind of teaches you to deal with it…
@Abrading1 Ever been to a mental health facility? Ever dealt with someone going through a manic or even hypomanic episode? It’s not just a name. Bipolar is simply a modern term to describe manic depression. People have been writing about it for 2000 years. It’s been a clinically recognised illness since the mid-19th Century.

Kind of basic information but then what else is there to know.
It’s definitely not a fake illness and has affected my life in a very significant way.
As for pharmaceutical companies yes this is a big problem in our society however it’s not just limited to Bipolar disorder but many health issues where medication is required. Besides some common medications for Bipolar disorder are relatively cheap such as Lithium and Depakote.

Do you really think we choose to destroy our lives and depend on medications to function? You are so Ignorant to the true causes of this illness. Everyday is a struggle for us and people like you make it worse.

@Abrading1 While I agree that all kinds of drugs do get pushed, you’re wrong about Bipolar. First off, many things haven’t had a “label” till they were truly understood. Also, I urge you to check your facts. For some time it has existed but, again, did not have name. When I was a child, I was a “bad child” because I would go from being all over the place to just wanting to sleep. I’m not the only one. Many people suffer. You CAN’T understand. You just can’t. I would just waste time trying.
What does Bipolar do? It lines the pockets of BIG PHARM and doctors. There is no such illness. Bipolar is FAKE!!! It didn’t exist years ago and now all of a sudden the is “a label” for people who don’t want to take responsibility for their own actions. It’s so much easier to blame this fake illness. This is y I take oxycontin or any type of pain killer really. It gives me a nice lil body buzz and in that split moment I’m not depressed,tired, or mad. I’m just real mellow.
