Q&A: Why is necrophilia considered a mental disorder and homosexuality not?

by MasterBlaster on September 24, 2011

Problem by Eric Cartman: Why is necrophilia regarded as a psychological condition and homosexuality not?
Homosexuality is not deemed a mental problem simply because “psychological wellness professionals and researchers have long regarded that becoming homosexual poses no inherent obstacle to foremost a joyful, wholesome, and effective lifestyle, and that the huge greater part of gay and lesbian people operate properly in the full array of social establishments and interpersonal relationships”, and because there are no victims like in case of pedophiles. the identical can be mentioned about necrophiliacs. If a single is considered a psychological sickness so really should the other. Since 1 is a lot more socially accepted then the other won’t make less of a mental disorder.

You need to learn the definition of a disorder. There is not evidence to support that homosexuality is a disorder. Just because homosexuality may not be the “norm” for you doesnt make it a disorder.

If you can’t see why necrophilia is wrong, then you are the one with the disorder and should seek help immediately.

So, do you mean necrophilia leads to a “full array of social institutions and interpersonal relationships”? Who with?

No neither is wrong, only being a gay necrophilliac is wrong!

I don’t know if you have ill purposes or not, but I’ll give you a genuine answer nonetheless.
-it’s not like I’m offended-

You’re right. They are both mental disorders. I wouldn’t quite say ‘mental illness’ but disorder seems about right. I’m bisexual and I dare to admit it’s deviating behaviour to have sex with the same gender. But I don’t care ^.^

I acknowledge my disorder. It’s no big deal.

Pretty sure there’s a victim in the case of necrophilia, or do you not mind being raped while your dead?

Lack of consent, and desecration of a corpse.

Living people taking part in homosexual relationships and sexual acts have given their consent. Dead people cannot, and raping their corpse is essentially desecration.
It may not seem like anyone suffers from that, but the body you leave behind is widely considered to still be of importance, both to the deceased (prior to their death) and their family and friends.

(In other words? Nice try buddy. Troll harder.)

Because with necrophilia, you’re SCREWING A CORPSE. Can a dead body be like, “Yeah, that’s cool, go ahead,”? Obviously not. Therefore, it’s wrong and disrespectful. Homosexuality has two consenting, living humans. If you can’t see the gigantic difference there, you must have a mental disorder.

Homosexuality was once considered a mental disorder and people were actually institutionalized for it. Now, however, people have realised that there is nothing wrong with loving someone of the same sex, nor with having sex with them. Obviously if the sex wasn’t consensual there’s a big problem, but if two people of legal age (it varies with location), consent to sex then it doesn’t matter if they’re male or female, or if they are both the same sex.
If it’s such a big deal for you, then just don’t have anything to do with it. It’s simple.
By the way, I’m a psychology student and have studied abnormal psychology. Homosexuality doesn’t fit the bill, sorry. (I’m not actually sorry cos I’m a lesbian and don’t particularly want to spend my life in an institution having “cures” forced down my throat because some idiots can’t accept homosexuality).

because corpses can’t act out in political parades, nor do they invade yearly meetings of the APA disrupting events until they remove them from the DSM.

Homosexuality, (and heterosexuality for that matter) are deviations from the mind’s basic sexuality. The part of the mind that sexuality originates from is called the id. The id has no sense of morals or social acceptance. It doesn’t care what people think, and doesn’t care if it is doing wrong. it doesn’t have the ability to differentiate between male and female.

Therefore, everyone is bisexual by nature. Now the Ego, the part of the psyche that wants to be socially acceptable often decides that it will be more socially acceptable to be heterosexual and so it gets rid of gay desire, by turning it into fear (which leads to the mind into turning the fear into hate, causing homophobes such as your pathetic self) or by just pushing it aside. However other times the environment is different and the mid shuts out the heterosexual desire instead, resulting in homosexuality.

So yes, you could argue that Homosexuality is an abnormality – but only as abnormal as heterosexuality.

Necrophillia is caused by problems in the head – the id is responsible, and the ego isn;t string enough to stop the id from getting what it wants. The superego (morals) is completely undermined and so the ego decides that instead of raping people, it is less offensive to have sex with a dead body.

in homosexuality, the psyche is still functioning.

there’s the truth. homosexuality is not a disorder, because the psyche is functioning, whereas necraphillia is because the psyche is completely out of balance.

Now stop questioning your own sexuality and trying to justify your reasons for shutting out the homosexuality. (oh yeah, I know my psychology mate). you wouldn’t have researched the question so much otherwise – unless you;re a necraphilliac trying to compare yourself to a homosexual.
